Something Old or Something New?
I don’t remember which key I pressed in error, but one day while I was browsing my news feed, Facebook informed me I could use that key as a shortcut.
A quick search revealed several shortcuts. I printed out the information and scooted over to Twitter.
Tada! Twitter has shortcuts too — and many are the same as Facebook’s.
Since Meta owns both Facebook and Instagram, my educated guess is that Instagram probably reacts to the same keystrokes. I can’t confirm my guess, though (no Instagram account). Do they? Don’t they? Maybe someone could leave a comment and let us know?
Without Further Ado …

G+m should be d+m
I just double-checked, Chirag, and the Twitter-recommended shortcut for direct messages is g + m — although d + m gets works as well. Each shortcut accesses a different area of the direct messaging system.
Thanks for providing another option!

This is so helpful, Kathy! I had no idea there were all these shortcuts! I’m bookmarking this one!
It’s a shock to have Facebook do something useful, right? I’m finding these shortcuts invaluable whenever I use Google Chrome, which a few months ago wrecked the functionality of movement keys such as PgUp, PgDn, cursor keys, etc.
Thanks for stopping by, Anne, and stay safe!
