Bluesky Social Media Invite Codes

The Timing

Although I considered releasing this post last week, it was Thanksgiving in the USA — so I decided to wait until today.

What Is Bluesky Social Media?

If you’ve been paying attention to the news over the last several months, you’ve probably noticed that Elon Musk and ex-Twitter have generated bucketloads of controversy.

Bucketloads of people have deserted the site or stopped posting on it.

Advertisers that normally spend bucketloads of money have suspended or reduced their advertising.

Many ex-Twitter deserters have flocked to Bluesky Social Media.

See Have You Heard About the Bluesky Social Media App? for more information.

But There’s a Problem with Bluesky

To join, you must add yourself to a wait list OR receive an invite code from a current member.

Lots of current members have invite codes, and they’re looking for people who would like to obtain them.

That’s where this post comes in.

Do You Have a Bluesky Code? Do You Want an Invite Code?

Let everyone know via the comments form below.

Whether you’re offering or receiving, please leave a contact method. For instance:

  • a contact form on your website
  • direct messaging on X
  • Facebook Messenger (Try the format m.me/your_handle/ and check to be sure it works.)
  • or …?

I discourage posting e-mail addresses online, unless you can set up a throwaway address. The more times you reveal your e-mail in public venues, the more spam you’ll receive.

Did I Forget to Mention That I Have Several Codes?

Many of the codes were donated by other writers.

Leave a comment if you want a code, and I’ll get in touch with you directly. I’ll also post here when my cache of codes disappears.

The comments on this post will remain open for six months. I anticipate that Bluesky will be public before then.

What Should You Do When You Receive a Code?

Join Bluesky at https://bsky.app.

After you join, select the Edit Profile link on your profile page to add a name and bio. The name makes it easier for people to find you, and the bio makes it easier for them to relate to you.

Once you’ve done that, please pop back here and leave your profile link. It’ll be something like:

On a regular basis, Bluesky will send you invite codes that you can gift to others. The quality and activity of your account, as well as that of the people to whom you give codes, are metrics that determine how many codes you receive.
